The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification, specifically designed for those who are appointed to act as a first aider in their workplace.
This course is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities. Over a 3 day period, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.

PRE REQUISITES:
Be 14 years of age or older.

This qualification is valid for 3 years.

18 Hours (3 days)
COURSE CONTENT:
This qualification covers:
- The role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an incident
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- CPR and defibrillation
- Recovery Position
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Choking
- Epilepsy
- Asthma
- Diabetes
- Anaphylaxis
- Shock
- Head and spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Wounds and bleeding
- Fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations
- Minor injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Poisoning
- Eye injuries
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:
- Demonstrate CPR and safe use of an AED
- Demonstrate ability to administer first aid on a choking casualty
- Demonstrate ability to carry out first aid on an unconscious casualty
- Demonstrate ability to manage wounds, bleeding and shock, plus optional extra – catastrophic bleeding
- Demonstrate secondary survey
- Demonstrate the management of fractures
- Complete 2 multiple choice question papers with a pass mark of 11/15 and 18/25
